When we teach, we are determined to “drive home the message” to each and every learner especially the young learners that come through revheads, all learners must create the habit of performing shoulder checks, observation and awareness over and over again THIS IS the single most important thing i believe that has the power to keep all drivers alive. Learning to look much more then left right & left again, as we where taught all those years ago, as the left right & left again message was maybe? appropriate for the time it just doesn’t go far enough any more.

Although all parents want the best training for their children, most parents would fail if they had to do a driving test today. They may have been driving for many years and yes they have become reasonably good at it, but we all at some stage get complacent if our awareness isn't high enough and most people never bother to update and practice the recent laws and road rules about driving safely.
We all have busy lives and don’t realise the importance of teaching our children safer driving habits. We have much more traffic on the roads now, which has ultimately led to more road rules as a result road rules are constantly getting updated, but due to parents not understanding the new road rules, this can interfere with teaching today’s learners correctly.

How many times have most of us had a near miss in the chaotic traffic? thankfully we avoided any incidences, it is because of that extra bit of awareness and observation we took to look again just in case, that last look has saved many people from an incident or even a major accident. This simple but very effective habit has the power to keep our children and us alive.
